Whilst I was on the Isle of Skye I began an ongoing interaction with the land. The idea being that these interactions act as markers of where I have once been, but are moveable and can continue on their own journey.

In-situ circles are etched into rocks and pebbles, only adding to the landscape, never removing. Once left, they gaze up to the sky and take on a journey of their own, being left to nature’s elements and man’s possibilities.

The circle represents the Self, and the infinite.
It is constructed from the continuous line and the space inside and outside this line. Therefore, the circle unites spirit and matter.

Having no beginning and no end, it is a fortress of protection, a symbol of the passage of time. Looking up at the sky, it reflects the cosmos, and recalls the circle of life.
